Description

A white mesh cage on a folding frame. Every side is mesh, so a mantis can hold on to any wall or the ceiling to hang and molt, and air moves through the whole cage. The front panel opens with a zip.

S is an 11.8 in (30 cm) cube. L stands 23.6 in (60 cm) tall on a 15.7 x 15.7 in (40 x 40 cm) floor. Plants and animals are not included.

Every enclosure in this shop gives its size the same way: height first, then the floor, in inches with the maker's centimeters behind it. We convert from the maker's centimeters to one decimal, so 30 cm is 11.8 in, never a rounded 12 in.

How to read a size

11.8 in tall, 7.9 × 7.9 in floor (30 × 20 × 20 cm). The first number is always the height. It decides who can live in it: climbers want height, ground dwellers want floor.

Tall or low

Climbers live up: a jumping spider hangs her hammock near the top and a mantis hangs upside down to molt, so they get a tall enclosure with the door low on the front. Ground dwellers live down: isopods and snails want floor space, a deep layer of damp substrate and a lid that closes well. A young spider (a sling) is easier to watch and to feed in a smaller enclosure.
